OBSGESSION participated in Biodiversa+ workshop on habitat connectivity

In March 2025, the European Biodiversity Partnership organised a diverse workshop, where participants were able to share their experiences from different countries and identify several biodiversity priorities.

A few of the main biodiversity priorities identified during the workshop were methods of harmonisation across institutions and countries, data with higher resolution and better quality, science and policy alignment, and many more. You can read more on the Biodiversa+ workshop here

OBSGESSION participated during the workshop with a presentation called: ‘Fragmentation & the LARCH model.’ The presentation discussed the role of EO data and fragmentation of landscapes and habitats from a species perspective. The presentation led by Sander Mucher and Michael van Eupen from Wageningen Research discussed the role of EO data and fragmentation of landscapes and habitats from a species perspective

The part of the OBSGESSION’s team who were present for the workshop, also managed to contribute to the drafting of a report during it: ‘Toward Harmonised Biodiversity Indicators: Insights from a Biodiversa+ workshop on connectivity’ collaborator for which is also the coordinator of OBSGESSION: Petteri Vihervaara. Read the report here.

This workshop managed to gather field experts and shareholders from around the world, encouraging them to suggest and work on ideas for easier collaboration, promising technological developments and many more.
