Datapool 2025: the Bohemian Forest datapool initiative

The Datapool meeting took place this October in Sumava, Czech Republic and brought together researchers and environmental experts involved in the Bohemian Forest ecosystem.

The meeting is jointly organised jointly by several institutions, among which including the Sumava National Park and Bavarian Forest National Park, as well as many other research institutions and partner universities. The collaboration is focused on sharing and collecting environmental data.

The main purpose of the meeting is to gather all participants and encourage discussions of Essential Biodiversity Variables (EBVs), implementation of EBV workflows, and coordination of cross–border research and data standards.

OBSGESSION was featured by an oral talk, presented by Haidi Abdullah, Andjin Siegenthaler and Andrew Skidmore, in which the results on eDNA and remote sensing integration were presented to a public of researchers and park managers. Actors involved in OBSGESSION’s pilot 4 participated in a meeting where the main topics of the pilot were discussed: supporting boreal forest protection and restoration.

The meeting provided an amazing opportunity for advanced collaboration and networking by bringing together a diverse community with mutual interests.
